The residents of New Bern, North Carolina were hit hard by Hurricane Florence last month. High winds and intense rain destroyed an estimated 4,325 homes and caused over $100 million in damage. Prior to the storm, almost a third of the city’s residents struggled to find affordable housing. Today, many are living in shelters as they try to rebuild their lives. For those who’ve lost everything, even finding the basic necessities to keep going can be a challenge.
The congregation of Williamsburg Christian Church saw a need and stepped up to help with a Hurricane Florence relief drive. Generous donations of bottled water, blankets, cleaning supplies, diapers, clothing, and hygiene items were provided to help our neighbors in need.
Delivering the supplies to North Carolina was where CVP came in. On Saturday, September 29, the Custom Vinyl Products team provided a truck, volunteers, and a driver to take the supplies to New Bern. It was heartbreaking to see the damaged homes and rubble from the storm. But the people are strong and determined to rebuild.
On Saturday, October 27, we returned with additional supplies to set up a Harvest Fair for the children of Newbern. It was wonderful to see the smiles on their faces as they enjoyed the games, prizes, and food.
Thank you to Williamsburg Christian Church for your support. It was an honor to serve with you.
